II-E-6. SARA LEE SIBERT (1877–1964), daughter of George Moore Sibert3 (George2, John David1)

Sara Lee Sibert was born on 4 May 1877 in Troy, Greenwood County, South Carolina. [1][2][3] She died on 5 May 1964 in Daytona Beach, Volusia County, Florida. [2][3] She married George Ernest Holland on 20 June 1906 in McCormick, McCormick County, South Carolina. [1][4] George was the son of John and Martha M. (Harris) Holland. [5] He was born on 15 April 1866. [2][5] He died of kidney disease on 10 September 1933, aged 67, at his home in Ninety Six, Greenwood County, South Carolina. [2][5][6] Sarah Lee and George are buried in the Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six. [2]

Sara's name is spelled "Sara" in some records and "Sarah" in others.

According to their wedding annoucement, Sarah Lee Sibert married George Ernest Holland at the home of Sarah's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M. Sibert, in McCormick. [4]

According to the census, on 27 April 1910, George E., aged 43, and Sarah L., aged 32, lived in Ninety Six with their daughter Mary E., aged one year and four months; George's widowed mother, Martha M.; and George's sister and nephew. George and Sarah had been married three years, and had had one child. George was a farmer. [7]

On 9–12 January 1920, George, aged 53, and Sarah, aged 38, lived in Ninety Six with their children Mary, aged 11; George, aged nine; Marget, aged five; Martha Louise, aged two. George was a farmer. [7]

On 4 April 1930, Geo. E., aged 63, and Sarah S., aged 52, lived in Ninety Six with their children Mary E., aged 21; George E., aged 19; Margaret C., aged 15; Martha L., aged 12; and John S., aged eight. George's sister also lived with them. The entire family was born in South Carolina. Geo. E. was a farmer and trucker and Sarah S. was a public school teacher. [7]

George's death certificate describes him as a retired farmer. The informant was John S. Holland. [5] According to his obituary, George was the son of Dr. John and Martha (Harris) Holland. He was survived by his widow, the former Sarah Sibert of McCormick; his sons, George E. and John S.; and his daughters, Mary E., Margaret Carson, and Martha. [6]

According to her obituary, Sara was the daughter of George and Margaret (Lyon) Sibert and the widow of George Holland. She was a retired school teacher. She was survived by her daughters, Miss Mary Holland of Georgetown, Mrs. Margaret Ford of Fairfax, Virginia, and Mrs. Martha Gregg of Daytona Beach, and her sons, George Holland of Columbia and Dr. John Holland of Winston-Salem. Children of George Ernest Holland and Sarah Lee Sibert:

II-E-6-a. Mary Evelyn Holland was born on 21 December 1908 in Ninety Six. [1][8][9] She died on 21 October 1974 in Georgetown, Georgetown County, South Carolina. [8][9]

According to her obituary, Mary Evelyn Holland was the daughter of George Ernest and Sarah Lee (Sibert) Holland. She served in the American Red Cross during World War II and was a retired school teacher. She was survived by her brother John Sibert Holland of Winston-Salem and her sisters Mrs. W. Harold (Margaret) Ford of Fairfax, Virginia and Mrs. F.M. (Martha) Gregg of Holly Hill, Florida. [8]

II-E-6-b. George Ernest Holland was born on 1 January 1911 in South Carolina. [1][5] He died of cancer on 21 October 1966, aged 55, in the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina. [5] He married Dorothy Alice Bruner. She was born on 23 August 1909 in Georgia. [10] She died on 27 December 1992, aged 83, in Fairview, Buncomb County, North Carolina. [10][11] George was buried in the Batesburg Cemetery in Batesburg, South Carolina. [5]

According to the census, on 10 April 1940, George E., aged 28 and born in South Carolina, and Dorothy, aged 31 and born in Georgia, lived in Columbia with their daughter Alice Hays, aged 11 months and born in South Carolina. George was a technician in a hospital. In 1950, George E., aged 38, and Dorothy B., aged 40, lived in Eau Claire, Richland County with their daughter Alice H., aged ten, and two other (possibly living) children. George was a laboratory technician. [7]

According to his death certificate, George owned a laboratory. [5] His wife, Dorothy Bruner, was the informant. [5]

According to her obituary, Dorothy had worked in the pathology department of the VA hospital in Columbia. She was survived by her daughter Alice H. McNulty and two other children.

Children of George Ernest Holland and Dorothy Bruner:

i. Alice Heys Holland was born on 20 May 1939 in Columbia. [2][12] She died on 31 August 2022. [12] She married (possibly living) McNulty. She is buried in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina,

According to her obituary, Alice graduated from the University of South Carolina. She was survived by her husband, two children and four grandchildren. [12]

II-E-6-c. Margaret Carson Holland was born on 29 March 1914 in South Carolina. [1][9] She died on 22 June 2003. [9] She married Wister Harold Ford on 26 December 1950 in the First Baptist Church in Columbia. [13] Harold was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wister Ford. [13]

According to their marriage announcement, Harold served in World War II. He was a school supervisor in Fairfax County, Virginia. [13]

II-E-6-d. Martha Louise Holland was born on 2 March 1917 in Ninety Six. [1][9][14] She died on 12 March 2002. [9] She married Francis M. Gregg.

Martha's birth certificate says she was the daughter of Geo. E. Holland, a farmer, and Sarah Sibert, a housewife. [14]

According to the census, on 3 April 1950, Francis M., aged 35, and Martha H., aged 33, lived in Johnson City, Washington County, Tennessee with their (possibly living) child. Francis was an assistant manager of a retail store. [7]

II-E-6-e. John Sibert Holland was born on 29 August 1921 in Ninety Six. [1][2][15] He died on 2 November 2006. [2][15] He married Merial Elaine Black. [2][15] She was born on 16 November 1926. [2] She died on 24 April 2022. [2] John and Merial are interred in the Ardmore Baptist Church Columbarium in Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina. [2]

According to his obituary, John was the son of George E. and Sarah (Sibert) Holland. He graduated from the University of South Carolina. He served in World War II as a test pilot and flight instructor. He was a pharmacist in Winston-Salem. He was survived by his wife Merial Black Sibert, two children, and six grandchildren. [15]
